96 participants from 63 First Tee chapters around the country, including Chapter student Trevor Tarashuk, recently attended the Joe Louis Barrow, Jr. Life Skills & Leadership Academy in Boise, Idaho. Hosted by The First Tee home office, the academy recognized and rewarded exceptional teen participants who are preparing to build upon leadership skills introduced through programs at The First Tee chapters.

Top coaches in The First Tee’s network, including our Chapter Coach MaryLois Altmann, delivered the golf and leadership instruction that incorporate The First Tee’s values and life skills in a concentrated, week-long event. Participants developed skills preparing them for success beyond the golf course. They experienced championship golf, career exploration, dorm living at Boise State University and meeting other teens from around the country sharing golf as their common bond.

“Thank you to all of our chapter Coaches and First Tee home office for this amazing experience,” said Trevor. “It was a great time and I met many new friends!”
